Samsung Galaxy S5:

Samsung Galaxy S5: Features and Competitors

Image credit: mobiletechster.comNow that Samsung has officially launched its 'the most advanced' Galaxy S5 in India, mobile fanatics are sure to make a mad dash to lay their hands on it. However is it the right time to spend half a lakh (Rs 49,990) over the Galaxy S5 right away? What Galaxy S5 has to offer? No doubt Samsung has displayed its high tech mojo in this 5.1 inch phablet, with great specs like a 2.5 GHz quad core processor coupled with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Its super AMOLED, scratch resistant screen boasts a Full HD resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels) with a 432 PPI too. Not to forget the upgraded battery to 2800 mAh giving it nearly 400 hours of stand-by and 21 hours of talk-time.What makes your money worth in Galaxy S5?Bang-on Camera- A 16 mp Auto-focus superb camera capable of recording in 720p, 1080p and 4K. Also a 2 mp front facing camera and other features like dual Shots, Simultaneous HD video and image recording and so on.What's the carrot? - The Galaxy S5 has surely certain features that would make you roll, but only if it's handy to you. These include the finger-print scanner unlocking system, which apparently has certain flaws to its name. Then there is the built-in heart-rate sensor and an indestructible outer cover making it dust and water proof. The S5 also shows off with its air gesture commands, a 4G enabled support (not quite useful in India as for now) and also the S Health, Samsung's built in fitness tracker. What should you wait for?It is evident that the Galaxy S5 has quite an impressive bio-data, although its personality in terms of design and ergonomics has nothing new to it. In terms of competing with the iPhone5S, the S5 does a decent job too. However one should ideally wait for a series of upcoming competitors to the Galaxy S5 especially from branded houses. These include:Sony Xperia Z2- While there are no specific dates about its launch in India, but the Xperia Z2 at approx. Rs 45000 has a 5.2 inch phablet to offer along with a 2.3 GHz processing chipset and a whopping 3 GB RAM. It's battery at 3000 mAh too has an upper hand over the Galaxy S5. Also like its predecessor Z Ultra expect it to be dust and water proof and all high tech stuffs built in it.Nokia Lumia 930- Set to release in June, the Lumia 930, running on the hyped Windows 8.1 is surely a hard competitor to the Galaxy S5. A stunning 20 mp camera and a resolution of 4992 x 3744 pixels on its 5 inch screen and wireless charging are surely too hard to resist. Its approximate price is smart at Rs 35000.LG G2 – Launched in the last week of March at Rs 49000, the LG G2 with 4G enabled is smart, trendy looking and offers great specs like 2.3 GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage and a Full HD 5.2 inch screen and a 13 mp camera along with 3000 mAh battery power. Also watch out for the LG G3's announcement!HTC One M8- Now here's a phone with great looks in its metallic body and astounding hardware built in. In terms of specs it boasts the same as Galaxy S5; however its camera is bit of a lag at 4 mp. Commanding around Rs 42000, the HTC One M8 should be hitting the Indian markets in this month.Having said all this, the Galaxy S5 honing its updates and technology tidbits from the World's leading Smartphone manufacturer, Samsung Electronics is indeed a phone to covet, given that all its features and updates are useful to you!Want to blog for us?
