Upcoming phones in 2014
2014 has kicked off pretty well as far as the smartphone industry is considered inIndia. We have compiled a list of upcoming phones in India, these are the devices that were massively rumored in 2013. India is an emerging smartphone market in the world, the country has around 67-million smartphone users and the number is growing at a very high rate. In 2012 there were 16.2-million units of smartphones shipped in India which almost tripled in 2013 with more than 44-million shipments.
The younger generation in India is getting more attracted to smartphones and what’s acting as a catalyst to growth is the arrival of affordable phones and cheap mobile internet plans. Let us have a look at the upcoming phones which are soon to launch in India.
The first in this list is the Samsung Galaxy S5. Samsung is No.1 smartphone manufacturer in India followed by Micromax at No.2. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is recently announced at MWC in Barcelona, this device has not achieved some breakthroughs in terms of design but it has certainly introduced a new set of sensors and features that are likely to attract a lot of buyers. The device comes with a 16MP camera with better low light photography and has fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor in it.
Next in the list is the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone, which is the successor model of the Xperia Z1 smartphone launched last year. This one again was announced at MWC and comes with some serious upgrades over its predecessor. It comes in straight competition with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and wins in some segments. Lenovo got its fame in India with its series of budget Android smartphones. The company last year launched the Lenovo P780 and Lenovo K900 along with few other devices. Micromax Canvas Knight is another much awaited smartphone in India, this one is a budget phone with mid-to-high end specs. We initially thought not to include this one in the list of high end phones but being No. 2 smartphone manufacturer and given the specs sheet we could not resist. The Canvas Knight was first launched in Russia (during the operations launch), this device comes with one of the gorgeous looking designs and has a 16MP rear camera and an Octa-Core processor.
Motorola re-entered the India market with the launch of Moto G. The device is very popular globally and comes with attractive price. People in India are happy and satisfied with the performance and price of the Moto G, and are expecting a little more from the company. Motorola recently announced that it will be launching the Moto X smartphone in India. Like Moto G, Moto X is also very popular among users in US. Lets see if this device carries the success story like Moto G.
